The aim of this course is to introduce fundamental acoustic and articulatory phonetics at the introductory level. Along with acoustic phonetics, this course focuses particularly on physiological mechanism in our articulatory system and correspondent functions in speech production. Throughout the course, various experimental devices and equipment will be introduced and students will be provided with a number of hands-on practices and exercises. No pre-requisite is required. Students with physiology, medical, health sciences, dental background are particularly welcome.
